Prayer in Denial
Dear God, oh why God?
For, even I am afraid to look you in the eye,
But this time I need your wisdom
Please, just hear this subtle cry
I should not question thee, but Lord,
There is much to know
"What happened to our mother's beauty,
From the summer to the snow?
As her landscape grows so thin, and
her fruits grow weak and weary?
Her nature falls to pieces, and
she's beaten up unfairly?"
Dear God, oh why God?
For, even I am afraid to look you in the eye,
For we all grow weak and tired
Please, just hear this subtle cry
I should not question thee, but Lord,
There is much to know
"Why do some men stand before us us
with an omniscient-style glow?
The children are uncanny, acting
abstractly and dull?
Is the knowledge that you gave us
Still confined within our skull?
There is fear, theft, and deceit, no
love or hope or even breeze?
It's a crime against our nature
choking under hands of greed?"
Dear God, oh why God?
For, even I am afraid to look you in the eye,
But this time I need your wisdom
Please, just hear this subtle cry
I should not question thee, but Lord,
There is much to know
"When will we see the light, it's hiding,
help us see the glow?
It's just ignorance weighs so heavy
and alone it's hard to lift?
Like Moses lead through the desert
as others' minds begin to drift?
I'm sorry that I questioned, Lord,
we're all lost and confused?
can you wake up all mankind
and guide us true and true?"
