A Beating (2-first draft)
He hit me hard, sending me to the ground. I could see him about to hit me again, but then there was something incredible. She was standing in front of me. 'Stop! Don't hurt him, don't hurt him!' I saw her spread her arms, blocking my view of him. 'Don't hurt him, please don't hurt him!' Time stopped, then broke with the sound of a slap across her face. And again.
I should have done something. But before I could stand, he'd kicked her and she dropped to her knees. Her arms were shaking. And then something lifted her up, my brother. She was looking straight at him. A sickening crunch as her wrist broke. I stared in horror as he let go of her.
