Burning Hearts
We let them fall
Their hearts, their lives, their souls
And as it falls, we build up our own walls
They're in the dark, but it's not over
Until you grab their hand
And try to save them
Our hands are strong
But are our heads are far too weak
Keeping ourselves from falling
Rather then trying to save another
And as our days go by
And as nights pass through
The side of the human race
That I never knew
Seems to shine through
All the words of hurt we say
We seem to mean
And all the twisted games we play
Seem to be for our entertainment
When I listen to you
You sound so cruel
It seems your unkind words
Will stay with them forever
Words of kindness, happy souls
Nothing gets better
But as the days go by
And as the nights pass through
The side of the human race
That I never knew
Seems to shine more and more through
All things we do
We seem to do on purpose
And all the lies we play
Seem to be for an enjoyment
Sometimes I find myself awake at night
Letting myself wonder
How we could be so cruel?
Asking myself why, we don't lend out a hand
I can't comprehend, heh, I don't understand
Is this really fair?
Is this really necessary?
Cause I don't understand
How we could set fire to someone's heart
And just watch them burn
