A Mother's Day Lesson from a Sermon and a Song

♪♪ When was the last time you said, "I'm sorry"?
When was the last time you said, "I love you"? ♪♪

This was the song that played in my mind as I was hearing a sermon in the church. The pastor asked the congregation in her sermon, "When was the last time you expressed your love for your mother?"

So, when was the last time I said, "I'm sorry" to my Mom? If I can remember it right, it was when I was in 3rd grade elementary and that was when I broke her mirror. My mom just hugged me and said she forgave me.

And when was the last time I said, "I love you"  to her? I think it was still during my elementary days (I was still a very showy dork that time).

But then, I grew up, became a rebellious jerk, and did so many things that broke my Mom's (and even Dad's) heart. And it's a shame that after all the prayers and patience that my Mom spent over me, I gave her less than the appreciation that she really deserves.

What's even more shameful is, this truth shows how such a hypocrite I am - that I always teach my Sunday school students to honor their mothers when I myself can't even give my Mom the honor that she deserves.

This Mother's day clearly showed me how much more I should change.

By the way, a blessed Mother's day to every mother out there!
