How Do I Know That I Am Saved

A brother in a Christian forum asked this topical question, "If you die right at this very moment, do you have assurance of going to heaven?"

By the following points, I have the assurance that I am saved:

In light of the Scriptures, I know that I am saved because I see in my life how the grace of God changes me from a life of sin to a life of righteousness (Ephesians 2:1-10).

In light of the Scriptures, I know that I am saved because I trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross which effectively pardons me of my sins (Romans 5:8-10; 1 John 1:7; 2:2).

In light of the Scriptures, I know that I am saved because I see in my life how the Holy Spirit, Who was promised by the Lord to His believers (John 14:15-17, 26), raises me to life from my death in sin and liberates me to a life of righteousness (Romans 8:5-11).

In light of the Scriptures, I know that I am saved because I see how the love of God which He revealed through Christ enables me to love Him and love other believers (1 John 4:7-12, 19-21).

And in light of the Scriptures, I know that I have the hope of final redemption (Romans 8:23) because I trust in His promise that He is able to finish the good work that He started in me (Philippians 1:6).

In conclusion, I have the blessed assurance because I have His promises - His holy word which is becoming a reality in my life!

"Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life." - John 5:24, MEV
