Phoenix Shavar

Phoenix Shavar(Named Allijah K. Anderson-Underdue), a bi-sexual poet from Viginia,is a proud member of the Hampton Roads Youth Poets(H.R.Y.P.). He became inspired by poetry when his poetic uncle, Jason Jones, Who goes by the name of Jay Poetry, ask him if he wanted to go to open mic night with him. He of course said yes! Jay then told Phoenix to write a poem, He had never done this before. He then wrote a poem called "The Smooth Touch of Sensation". He later performed the poem in front of his family, he got some good feedback! Later that night Phoenix, known as Allijah at the time, sat nervously in the audience of The Venue on 35th street. He watched as Jay Poetry opened the event with a ppoem of his own. He was amazed at the level of comfartability his uncle had in front odf the crowd. Later, Phoenix then was introduced by his uncle, and asked to come on stage. Phoenix nervously said the poem and got good feedback. From that point in life, Phoenix Shavar has wrote poems from being short and long! On March 16, 2011, Phoenix Shavar's mentor, Kimberly Hill, drove him to a meeting where he meet other poets like Jazz, Vizion, Soul, Y.A.M., Boobie, Richard and Mr.Nathan. And has been a dedicated member since!
