Whites against Blacks
Daughters against mothers
Sons against fathers
Brothers against sisters.
Why so much hate?
Where is the love for one another
Where the morals and the guidance?
Where is the unity and peace?
Where is the security and brotherhood?
Where is this nation headed?
When will be united as one family
When will prejudice and racism be erased?
When will neighbor truly love his neighbor?
When will Martin L. King’s dream come true?
It starts with the golden rule,
“Loving others as you love yourself.”

Isaiah 2:4

I see you across the room,
Your eyes are fixed right on me.
They start at my head,
And go down to my red, high-heeled shoes.
I try to concentrate on something else,
But my eyes continue to return back to you.
I become uncomfortable, uneasy,
As you start to approach me.
You ask me for a dance, I hesitate,
Then I slowly enter into your embrace.
Bodies attracting like a magnet,
Sticking together like glue.
Your body speaks fluently, mine…
Listens.

I should write poetry
And dedicate my favorite poem to you
And you would not read it
If I should sing my favorite song to you
And you would not listen to me
If I should tell you a funny joke
And you would not laugh
Still I would give you my love
Which means more than my poems
Even more than a dedicated song
Or a funny riddle or joke
I will still give you my love
Even though you say…
You no longer care.
