I sit in my room
Still thinking of you.
In my heart there's a storm
I cannot see through.
An eerie wind blows
through my window and then
I'm thrown back on my bed
I'm in dream world again
As I drift through this dream
I see something's amiss.
In this world there's no love
only memory’s bliss.
And then through the mist
I see by the stairs
there’s a light and a man
and there's you sitting there.
I hardly believe it.
I thought that you died.
As I look at your face
I think my eyes lied.
We sit and we talk
for an hour or so
then you look at me
and you say you must go.
I say 'Please don't leave me,
Please don't go again!
I've lost you once already
and I can't take the pain! '
You say you won't leave
and that you'll always stay.
Then 'I never left,
I was only away.'
Dear Grandfather, I wrote
when I awoke,
I know you're not gone
and to me you spoke.
What you said was the truth
and I should have believed.
You never did die
but your pain was relieved.
I sat on my bed
And thought I heard you say
'My Child, I'm not gone,
I am only away.'
NOTE: I recently published this one under an assumed name. Lillianna Grae is me. I'm also Lillianna Martin. All of the works by both of these poets are my creations. These poets are also my creations. Aliases are quite useful, non? but aside form all that, this particular piece was written for my great grandfather, Lucky Jeffries. We all miss him dearly.

Sad for the days to come without you
Sad for the times and life I knew
Sad for the rose whose bloom has fell
Sad, for this day has been my hell
Sad for longing and love we once had
Sad that's it's gone now -Sad that you're sad
Sad without my dearest, sweet
And for lips that nevermore will meet
Missing that which almost was
And yet I wonder, for what cause?
What's left is fear for only one
The one is not me, yet what is to come.

One thing that I've learned
From being apart
As I toss and turn, sleepless
Alone with my heart
Is to take good times with bad
To smile when I'm sad
To love what I've got
Yet remember what I once had
Always forgive, but never forget
Learn from my mistakes
But never regret
Because people can change
And I know I was wrong
But the thing that I learned
Is that Life
Goes
On.

Here's to you, my dear old friend!
To days we thought would never end!
To times we spent here in the fall
To things we'd never done at all...
And here's to Nights we'd spend together
And all we'd thought would last forever
And here's to summers with no end
And all for you, my dear old friend.
Here's to all we've done and seen
And here's to all that might have been
And here's to us, here's to an end
Here's for what lies 'round the bend.
