The time has rushed by, love.
I have forgotten how we once were
there is something different when we go to bed
and it’s as if everything has been said,
as if no words can ever again
be spoken as we once did
and you will never again
lie hot with you body against mine
as if sheltering against life
and the strong wind from outside
is rattling at the windowpanes
as if still searching, trying to find something
or maybe to come in
and even it passes, passes me by
but there is something different to everything
a special kind of feeling
as if still closer and closer we do bond
as if even arguments and heartache
does not their toll take.

To catch a fish in a stream of scotch
you cannot use a sharpened spear
For the fish are swift and colorless
they can sense when danger's near
A patient hand and a fearless gut
will be your closest friends
For the fish a clever and full of tricks
they feign in shallow ends
On the rocks beneath the ice
the fish will dwell and hide
So to catch a fish in a stream of scotch
you must drink the current dry

"Love our dear Valentine" we always say,
whenever we think of Valentine's Day.
Big hugs and kisses and also some fun -
is love's expression for our 'special one'.
Flowers, dinner, and maybe some wine -
as we treat our 'sweethearts' especially fine.
But oh, long ago on one fateful day -
when we threw our greatest of loves away -
Hatred surpassed all the love we had won -
as hugs were not there when the nailing begun.
Thorns replaced flowers, and then sour wine -
and that's how we treated our Lord divine."
Love our dear Valentine" we always say,
but how do we love the Savior today?

Maligned, the
space between us
lets go the mammary
a flame scoops up the void,
we speak no names,
I carry you in my skinned arms
to the weeds
for seminal mutability;
shipwrecked, i fear of depth
turbulence, I will honor the drop
on the cheeks of sea, green shores
in the night I will walk out of the snare
the gulls will come in a flock

O Lord, I know in my heart,
that I can be truly transformed
from impure and tainted thinking,
when my spirit is daily reborn.
Cleanse my mind, my thoughts
and raise my eyes unto Thee;
alter my vision regarding…
everything that I may see.
Renew in me a fresh heart;
modify my ungodly behavior;
keep me solely focused on the…
permanent work of my Savior!
Spark my being with the Divine;
rekindle my love of Your Word;
rejuvenate the image of my dream;
don’t let my purpose be deterred!
I believe Your holy promises,
for with You, all things can be done!
Complete in me a real transformation,
for I know… it has already begun.

O Lord, my God and Heavenly King,
my heart continues to rejoice;
for You alone are worthy of praise!
I honor Thee with my poetic voice.
Despite the scars of emotional hurt,
that constantly seek to swallow me up,
I know that You are nearby, having…
sipped from Your sacrificial cup.
Patiently, I wait, shedding anxieties
about my earthly troubles and circumstance.
Joyfully, I petition Thee with prayers,
thankful that You are… Lord of the Dance.
With my heart and upraised hands,
I bask in Your Presence and peace.
Guard my heart and mind with tranquility;
permit my turmoil… to permanently cease.
When I’m focused on whatever is pure,
It’s You - that has my spirit stirring.
Consume my Life with Your essence.
Insure that I… rejoice in everything!

I taste your sweetness in every fruit
and smell your fragrance in all the flowers
your gentle touch is like the wind and rain
and sun which soothes life's days and hours
you radiant smile is loving and kind
and each day you are my valentine!

(after Robert Browning, for my wife Daleen)
All other things, people that I do know
have got no value when we fuse together,
even the times when we are apart
when there is a greater distance between us
have got no kind of significance in this moment
when we enter life, enter into the core of ecstasy,
when we are one with you around me
and then kisses are solemn
as if nothing else can be something more than this,
when all of life comes together as genuine and true
with our souls, our senses and feelings in a single moment
when we meet each other each to each
in the union between you and me;
in bliss, and we are enraptured
and life is on that moment eternally great and good.

(after Robert Browning, for my wife Daleen)
The dark blue sea and the yellow-white sand
and the golden moon hanging somewhat low
is romantic where we walk hand in hand
while eternally in and out the ocean flow,
we walk and talk, everywhere lights appear,
the sand is soft on the salt-scented beach
and the lingering moments we hold dear,
as the stars feel near, as if in our reach,
where we are falling in love each to each.

(for my wife Daleen)
I had noticed suddenly today
that the whole world was turning grey,
and my heart felt ripped to pieces, as if it was bitter
while outside some birds still did twitter
and deep in sleep you were gone
still a part of the lingering darkness of night
while lonely the moon had shone
and some little stars was the only other light
until the morning came and you smiled at me
and the sheer beauty of your radiant face I did see.
