Was it the dream?
to believe, in all we could be,
happiness, fulfilled,
Imagined!

Was it the moment?
we both felt, all was ours,
together, intimate,
Lost!

Was it the word?
engraved in our souls, to become,
whispers, hushed,
Empty!

Was it the guise?
under all pretense, the laughter,
together, one,
False!

Was it the pain?
tearing both hearts, never to repair,
crying, screaming,
Broken!

Was it the truth?
blinding eyes, never to see,
reality, life,
Lies!

Was it the betrayal?
forgotten all alone, desperate to be,
cold, brutal,
Discarded!

Well...
