Do You Know Detachment?
Do You Know Detachment?
Reaching an age
of 15-16 almost every one of us has listened to the word “Detachment”. And some
of us try to apply the meaning of this word in life. Thus going for some years,
they are called saints, mahatmas, sadhus, or even avatars! But, what is detachment?
If we ask the same to persons claim to have attained this, what is the common
answer we find?
“To leave behind
the certain emotions, to free yourself from earthly affairs, to invest yourself
in attaining the pursuit of your soul…” And some more than this which is out of
our approach to undertake! But where has this been told? Who has told us to
practice detachment in our life? Is it mentioned in some books? In some epics?
Or one of Dashaavtar has told us this? I accept me to be very ignorant, and much
inferior in knowledge and intellect than others about these spiritual facts.
But I think many fingers raise to Lord Krishna, and his speech of life The
Bhagwad Gita. And they claim of these pursuits are told in the same.
We come to our
main concern now. “Detachment” and its main function. Who is better, simple
question. A person who is investing his/her energy in penance, or the other who
is helping a farmer in taking out bullock cart from the mud? Tell me if I’m
wrong in choosing the later superior to the former? No no and no! I am right,
and most of the persons are with me. So where we find ourselves? Remember what we
are taught in our schools in very beginning classes? Help others in need,
respect others, love others, and many morals like these. But a person who
claims him as a celibate, and doesn’t talk to women, doesn’t see to them, and
keeps him much aloof from their shadows even, and claims him to be detached
also. His arrogance will never let him be a man! His pride will never let him
help any woman in need, because he claims himself a detached body, but is
actually afraid of being attached!
Many things to
say, to pour out of my heart, but later…
