South African schools are starting again in a week and I am dedicating this poem to all teenagers who will or are sitting in class being bord
Exams are when learners work and teachers break
Freezing as rules and regulations limit our clothes
Urging the clock to tick tock faster
With bord stares from a hundred students
Everyone has a technique to try and make time fly:
Staring as teachers rush past after one another
Watching the trees sway to the rythm of the wind
Drawing a bottle or writing a simple poem
It's the time of year when teachers want logic
But in our desperate situation creativity leads our minds
Thinking up answers to the work we never studied
And imagining everything ese we could be doing
Yes it's the time of year every high school student fears
It all goes against our very teenage nature
But when it's all over and done with
Hot chocolate and movies are all we need

Before I write down my poem I would like to give some background information as to why I wrote it.
My farther is a missionary in the Southern part of Swaziland. It it the most beautiful country I have ever seen, but few people know about it (feel free to go google it. I think you will be amazed by the scenery). But this little country also has a very sad story to tell. I has one of the highest percentages of HIV/AIDS invected people and it is getting harder and harder to feel, cloth and house the orphans even with the help of many outsiders.
The king is the second richest man in Africa (or the world, any case he is filthy rich) if I remember correctly. I now for a fact that he was the owner of a Mercedes of which there only exsisted 3 in the world. This country is on the border of being bankrupt because the king expects everything from the state (he bought an airplane recently while his subjects are dying of hunger). Therefore I beg of you to read this poem and think of these people depending on a bankrupt state to provide them with money, food and medicine...
Our eyes are shut and our ears are deaf
Ignoring the pleading of half-naked orphans
Little hand begging for their dayly meal
And teenage girls giving all they have
Parents leaving home to work two jobs
Leaving their children to grow up alone
This is it, our time to show we care
Our chance to give something of ourselves
To better the lives of strangers
When people tell us of all the pain
We shut our ears and pretend not to hear
When someone tells us we can help
By reaching out and giving some time
We can make a difference in the lives
Of all the people with shatterd hopes
This is it, our time to show we care
Our chance to give something of ourselves
To better the lives of strangers
Leaders living in unknown riches
While their subject die of hunger and neglect
Letting people die for their own gain
Claiming to care, but rejecting all in need
Except this dare, love and help those in need
CARE
