Silent Consolation
by Angela Lucius
pub in Darkness Deep 2011
She held her hands up
crying out in pain
While her teardrops mingled in
with falling rain
The blood stains on her dress
a crimson red
As she screamed out for her child
who lay there dead
But her agony was brushed aside
with ease
By those not easily taken in
by grief
Her screams were met with whispers
all around
As she fell in desperation
to the ground
Sweet innocence lay face down
in the dirt
While inside she felt her heart
ready to burst
Another child, lost tragically
to violence
And all they could console her with
was silence.
